Kia ora, I'm Kym
I help business owners feel capable, supported, and equipped - not because they’re doing things wrong, but because running a business today places a lot of pressure on good people. I love to walk alongside business owners to help them see clearly amidst this pressure and give them the support they need as they strengthen the health of their business.
I grew up on a dairy farm in Ōpunake, South Taranaki, where hard work, consistency, and practical problem‑solving were simply part of life. That upbringing shaped how I operate: systems matter, rhythm matters, and people matter most of all.
Over the past 30 years, I’ve worked across a wide range of industries – including education, IT services, software and IoT, business publications, and business consumables - in senior strategic sales and advisory‑adjacent roles.
Each role gave me exposure to a huge variety of business-to-business environments - from factory floors to global enterprise boardrooms. The industries changed, but the underlying problems were often the same: unclear strategy, misaligned teams, operational friction, and leaders carrying too much alone.
I could often see what needed to change - but also saw how difficult it was to make good decisions without a clear view of how the whole business was functioning.
For years I had the idea of a simple advisory concept for struggling businesses quietly growing in my mind. This concept has developed into BusinessMD, a comprehensive, diagnostic, systems-based approach to identify and implement meaningful change from a foundation committed to uniting people, strengthening partnerships and delivering enduring outcomes.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me outdoors - hiking, endurance training, or game fishing - places that reinforce patience, pacing, and staying steady when conditions change. Those lessons mirror the work I do with businesses navigating uncertainty. This is why BusinessMD starts with diagnosis.
If you’re feeling the weight of running a business - or
simply want a clearer way forward - I’d love to talk and see how I might support you and your business.
